The Marriage Course at St Nicholas

The Marriage Course

The Marriage Course which starts at St Nicholas, Sevenoaks on Wednesday 24
February 2016 is for any married couple, whether you’ve been together for two or
fifty years, and whether you feel you have a strong relationship, or are struggling.
Why do the Course?
• Regular check-ups help a car run smoothly and reduce the risk of breakdown.
• The best sports professionals spend hours being coached and perfecting their
technique.
• The greatest achievements in life take practice, training and dedication.

It is the same with marriage. A strong, loving and lifelong relationship doesn’t happen
by chance. It takes effort and dedication to keep the fun and romance alive. We can
all learn how to make even the happiest marriage better. Whatever your situation the
practical tools you learn on the Marriage Course will help improve and strengthen
your relationship. That is why we like to encourage every married couple to consider
coming on the Course.

The Course has 7 sessions, and we try to make each of the sessions like a romantic
date night out. So each week you will dine as a couple at your own private candlelit
table with flowers, low lights and soft music playing.
We then play the Marriage Course DVD and usually two or three times during the
evening there is a pause whilst each couple talk privately to each other, usually with
the help of a discussion exercise.

There is absolutely no group discussion i.e. you won’t have to share anything about
your relationship with anyone else, apart from your spouse. And, during the private
discussion times, music is played, so your conversation won’t be overheard by
others!

The cost of the Course is £80 which includes a 2 course meal each week plus all
Course materials.
Registration Forms for the next Course are available on the Welcome desk at St
Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks or can be obtained by contacting the Course Leaders
Alan and Margaret Bowen on 07967 584392 (e-mail: alanljbowen@btinternet.com)
