Here is the text of his letter.
"Following a consultation with the Deanery clergy, the Archdeacon and others, I have invited the Revd Michael Gentry to become your next Area Dean in succession to Chris Smith. I am very pleased to let you know that Michael has accepted my invitation. Though not beneficed in the Deanery, Michael has been offering ministry within the Deanery and will now be licensed as Associate Vicar at Westerham alongside being your Area Dean.
Archdeacon Julie and I look forward to working with Michael as Area Dean; he will be Commissioned in this role for two years in the first instance. Julie will formally Commission Michael as Area Dean and License him as Associate Vicar at 6.30pm on Sunday 24 November at Westerham – all would be most welcome at that service. I am sure that Michael will have your prayerful support as he takes on his new roles.
With my prayers and good wishes,
James, Bishop of Rochester "
A warm welcome to Michael - we look forward to working with you!
The Vicar of Westerham, Revd Kevin Barnard, adds:
" On a practical note as you know parking in Westerham can be difficult; there are only 2 spaces at the church but there are some around The Green. However, I recommend that most people park in the Darent Car Park https://www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/directory_record/22/westerham_town_centre_darent_tn16_1td and follow the sign to Town Centre which passes the church doors after a minute or so of walking uphill! On a more positive note we are providing refreshments after the service!"
