The Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity is once again upon us and will commence on the 19th January. I am writing to invite you to the Unity Service which will be held at St John the Baptist Church, Sevenoaks at 4pm on that day. Churches together have particularly asked that we reflect on S.Paul and his welcome in Malta with ‘unusual kindness’ and this will be our theme.
There will also be a choir to which any are free to join. This will have a brief rehearsal at 3.30pm on the day. It would be good to have some idea as to numbers so appropriate seating can be provided.
Our preacher will be Fr John Caster, who is the Vicar of St Barnabas Church in Tunbridge Wells. Fr John is an American by upbringing (a Texan) but has spent half his life in the UK. This gives him an interesting view of the search for Christian Unity across two continents, and the challenges and opportunities that this can bring.
