26th May: Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse – Causes, Impacts
and The Future.
10.30am
- 4pm (refreshments from 10am): St Peter
and St Paul’s Church, Tonbridge.
This day Workshop will be led by Peter
Williams from the Community Domestic Abuse Programme (CDAP) and will
fully explain all aspects of DV including:
·
What is Domestic Abuse, and
society’s approach to the Perpetrator, Survivor and Children who
may be involved.
- Helping
the male perpetrator change his behaviour: CDAP Change Programme.
- Working
with female survivors: the Freedom Programme and the Recovery
Tool Kit.
- The
Domestic Abuse Youth programme and educating young people in what a
healthy relationship looks like.
- Supporting
Male Survivors.
Both Survivors and Perpetrators
will share their stories including:
·
a male who has been through CDAP , who
will explain the impact it has had on his life.
·
a female survivor who has experienced
the Freedom Programme and the Recovery Tool Kit.
·
a male who will share his story about
how he dealt with the abuse.
Peter is an experienced Domestic Abuse
professional having worked as a front line Caseworker and Manager. He has
supported survivors, worked with young people in schools and is educating
perpetrators. He is a Christian, and retired from the police service as an
Inspector. He has since worked in this field for the Citizen Advice Bureau, a
Domestic Abuse charity, Sevenoaks District Council and the Probation
service. This is part of our Diocesan Campaign called Setting the
Captives Free.
