Diocesan Prayer topics for March
PRAYING
THE WAY
March
2018
World:
Pray for the troubled areas of
the world and those who are suffering in whatever way, for those who are
grieving, for those who are seeking a place of safety amidst all the areas of
war, disaster and poverty; for all our brothers and sisters who are being
persecuted for their faith; that
people will awake to the perils of plastic in our oceans and damage it is doing
to our marine life and that those in authority will act swiftly on action to
change and care for our natural world; our link Dioceses of Estonia, Harare,
Kondoa and Mpwapwa.
Our
country:
Pray for our government and all those in authority whether
at national or local level, that they will have wisdom and discernment and that
they may seek ways of justice, peace and for the common good.
Diocese:
Pray for ‘Called Together’
archdeaconry events; for those presenting their work, for those preparing the
time of worship and for those attending - that God’s work will be seen; the
Bishop’s Leadership Team and Bishop’s Council both meeting this month that they
welcome the progress of Called Together and engage with the next stages; the
working groups looking at how to make our ‘grand plans’ reality, in ways that
local parishes and people with welcome; all the study courses and spiritual
preparations during Lent and for our services over the Easter season, that
people will be drawn into our worshipping communities to hear the good news of
the resurrected Jesus will respond; the plans and preparations for the ‘Thy
Kingdom Come’ Prayer that many churches will be involved and total protection
on all those involved; the Women’s World Day of Prayer, the theme: ‘All God’s
Creation is very good’ that the movement of prayer across the world will bring
changes to the way people view and care for our environment.

"Hearing God's Word": an introductory Bible course.
Seal Church is planning to run the Diocesan course,"Hearing God's Word", after Easter - dates to be decided. This is an introduction to interpreting and applying the Bible. Members of other parishes are more than welcome to join us.
If you are interested, please get in touch with the vicar, Anne Le Bas. The course is designed to run either over six evenings or over two Saturdays (all day) - I am happy to do either, depending on what the potential attendees can manage. It would be helpful if you could register which dates you could manage on the doodle poll here so that we can decide which option to follow.
The course is designed to lead into "Speaking God's Word" for those who wish to take their studies further. People who have completed both Hearing God’s Word and Speaking God’s Word and the assessment in Speaking God’s Word may be given permission from Bishop James to give talks on an occasional basis within their own parish context under the oversight of their incumbent or priest-in-charge. Those wishing to gain this ‘permission’ must attend all sessions of both courses and satisfactorily complete the assessment. There are more details on the Diocesan Website here.

- Ask, ‘Why?’;

All Age Worship with Rev Jane Hulme
Is
it possible to create a meaningful and engaging All Age Worship Service that
will enable all generations to come together to worship God?
During
the All Age Worship Seminar we will explore together:
i)
a short history and theology of All Age Worship,
ii)
what an All Age Worship service is and what it isn't,
iii)
some key principles of All Age Worship and
iv)
how to write an All Age Worship service from scratch.

Space for God with Susanne Carlsson
Prayer
lies at the heart of the church and our lives and the Christian tradition
offers a treasure of different ways of exploring prayer. ‘Pray as you
can, not as you cannot’. This session will help you explore
silence and how to use it for prayer. There will be some input and time to
explore silence together.
